Case: The 5218-202/A features a 44 mm AISI 316L stainless steel case treated with PVD, typical of Panerai’s bold and robust aesthetic. The cushion shape recalls the brand’s original military diving watches.

Dial: The watch boasts a minimalist black dial with Arabic numerals and luminescent tritium and patina hour markers, ensuring excellent readability even in low light conditions. There are two different types of dials: the first, No Matching, from 1993, and the second, from 1994, known as Matching. Some dials were changed from No Matching to Matching. What is the difference between the two dials? The color of the tritium-treated hour markers, which differs from the color of the tritium on the hands.
The first dials, No Matching, were treated with a protective coating, which made the hour markers orange. At the time, this was considered a defect, so it was decided not to continue with this treatment.
Crown protection: One of Panerai’s distinctive features is its patented crown protection device.
