First of all because the name “Concorde”.
Well, that’s a nickname that comes from the Rolex advertisement in the late 1960s where a Concorde airplane pilot wears this type of watch.
The first thing we notice about this watch are the baton hands, against the earlier Dauphine of 1675/8 without shoulder, and the Mercedes hands of the later series.
These hands are long and flat and are specific to this 1675 model which was produced for a very short period of time, between 1968 and 1969, between the serial 1.7 million and 1.9 / 2.00 million .
This type of 1675 shared the same dial as the model without protection shoulders just prior to the change of the winding crown protection with the shoulder pads.
A special feature of the correct dial for the CONCORDE model is the presence of a “dashed line” called DASH between the Oyster and Perpetual lettering on the dial.
Furthermore, the Concorde dial is only brown, there is no black.
The GMT Master ref 1675 at the beginning of production, or in 1959 adjusting the usual case without shoulder of the previous 6542, coexisted with the case with the production shoulders until about 1967.
The earliest 1675s without shoulders were fitted with leaf hands like the previous reference (from 1959 to 1965), from 1966 to 1969 the 1675s were fitted with Concorde hands, later the more classic Mercedes hands.
I Gmt Master ref. 1675 produced between 1966 and 69 have the DASHED LINE on the dial, but on the market it is easy to find later dials mounted.
In addition to having the correct dial, the example in the photo is of the type defined as “STAR”, that is, glossy lacquered, a rarity in the rarity. it is of the defined type
