Rolex Submariner ref. 5512 made in 1970

The Rolex Submariner 5512, produced from 1959 to 1978 in only 17,338 pieces, is the first Submariner reference with crown guards, introduced to increase its robustness and reliability in extreme conditions. The main difference compared to the 5513 lies in the caliber, which evolved from 1530 to 1560 and then to 1570 with a stop-work mechanism.
The 5512 is also famous for its white dials, divided into nine main variants and three marks, among which the extremely rare MK2 stands out with its “Small” COSC inscription and hazelnut patina on the tritium. Nicknamed “Four-Liner” for the four lines of text on the chronometer-certified dials, this model had to pass rigorous accuracy tests to obtain the “Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified” designation. These standards made the 5512 not only rarer but also more expensive than the 5513, cementing its iconic status among vintage watch enthusiasts.
